Our Sunday Song Selection is something special for our readers. We choose a song that is comic book or "geek" related and share some thoughts, memories, etc.

R.E.M. is one of my favorite bands and my first exposure to the band was 1987 when my uncle played me a song called 'Superman'. I was in a Run-DMC phase and was not interested in some weird band called R.E.M. They were 'college rock' and I was of the opinion that college rock was junk. That was the opinion of a thirteen year-old kid, so what the hell did I know. But the song stuck with me and I liked the band a little bit more. It all changed in 1987 when my uncle purchased the R.E.M. album, Document, for my birthday. After that, I was a major fan.

'Superman', our selection today, is actually a cover of a 1960s B-side from The Clique.
