NAIRA: A WEBCOMIC SERIES

Champion City Comics is pleased to present a new version of Naira, a science-fiction webcomic series.

Synopsis: Naira, an intergalactic scientist, has been sent to a planet classified as A-1166 to research a species of plant that reportedly has the ability to cure many diseases. When Naira arrives on A-1166 she discovers the planet is in the middle of a major war between two tribes and the species of plant is being raided by intergalactic pirates.

GREETINGS FROM WEBCOMICS LAND: DETECTIVE PEREZ WELCOME TO RUST CITY BY PAUL PATE

Today, we would like to share a webcomic from Paul Pate titled Welcome to Rust City.

Synopsis: Consider yourself lucky. You're lucky you don't live in my city. I've lived in Rust City my whole life, and for all thirty some of those years, this city has been in decline. At this point, it is almost unbearable. But, this is MY city! I am detective Lorenzo Perez. If there is a crime in this city and I catch the case, you can best believe I'm gonna find those responsible and bring them to justice!

Take this case. Someone kills Christina Stephans. They don't just kill her. They open her neck up and drain her blood all over my apartment floor! They're not gonna get away with it. Not if I have anything to say about it. Not if I have to take on gangsters, corrupt police officers, rogue FBI agents, and vampires! I will do what I have to do to track them down. I will enlist the help of some unruly characters along the way. And believe me, there are plenty in this town!

So, join me for this story if you will. But, please take my word for it, you don't wanna move here. You wouldn't last.

URITORCO

The Uritorco is a mountain that is 1,949 meters high, located in the center of Argentina, in the province of Córdoba. This area was inhabited in ancient times by the Comechingones that revered as a sacred mountain. Uritorco is known for frequent esoteric practices and, in past decades, there have been UFO sightings by locals and tourists. Since the 1950's, there is the myth that an underground city (Erks) lies beneath the region.

This story follows a group of superheroes who are trying to stop a group of supervillians from stealing the mystical powers of Uritorco.

In this harrowing tale, we see one man's struggle to find some sense of meaning and worth in the work he has done. Does any of it really matter? Does anyone even care? BATMAN BY JOSEPH HAEMMERLE

Joseph Haemmerle is the artist for The Champion City Fire and he also provided artwork for The Red Devil. He has submitted for our faithful followers a drawing of Batman from The New 52. I like this drawing of The Dark Knight because it appears that he has just landed somewhere and he's about to do battle with some bad guys in Gotham. Fantastic.

MISTER X STORY WINS RUNNER-UP AWARD AT DUNDEE COLLEGE

Artist A. Kaviraj and writer Darrin O'Tolole have won runner up in the Dundee College sequential art contest with their Mister X story, judged by Frank Quitely.

FRANK QUITELY & GRANT MORRISON WITH TALES FROM THE VOID, ANOTHER COMIC BOOK PROJECT BY KAVIRAJ & O'TOOLE

What is the contest? In 1944 The Dandy introduced the first home-grown British superhero – The Amazing Mr X, who appeared in 14 installments between 1944 and 1945. These stories were drawn by DC Thomson staff artist Jack Glass. When The Amazing Mr X made a brief reappearance in The Dandy annual in 1962 he was drawn by Dudley D. Watkins. Since then he has been all but forgotten... but now you have the opportunity to bring the character back to life, re-interpreting the character for the 21st century!

The University of Dundee, in partnership with DC Thomson, is pleased to announce the Second Annual Dundee Comics Prize - a competition to re-create The Amazing Mr X. Entries should consist of a two - three page origin story and a cover image featuring your interpretation of this classic British superhero.

The first prize is £500, plus publication of the story in The Sunday Post and in the Dundee University publication Anthology, which showcases new work by up-and-coming comics creators. There will also be two runner-up prizes of £250 each.

Kaviraj and O'Toole won the contest, which specified a three page story, but after they won runner up were asked if they could come up with two extra pages to more complete the story which they quickly did. The Mister X story has been posted below for your reading enjoyment.

Champion City Comics is pleased to present Dr Death vs The Zombie. Dr. Death is an "almost superhero" that can sense the thoughts and feelings of those around him. At times, he serves as judge, jury, and executioner when he encounters psychopaths and the terminally ill. In this series, Dr. Death has taken refuge in Las Vegas following a brutal encounter with a vampire clan. However, his refuge is short-lived due to the presence of a zombie that is terrorizing the city.

This is the exciting conclusion to NAIRA. Jardo, the last remaining warrior of an intergalactic tribe, has taken a stand with his pet tiger, Zeus, against the evil Mhor, a beast-like creature who annihilated Jardo's people.

NAIRA is a homage to the golden and silver age era of comic books and classic sci-fi movies. Enjoy!

Champion City Comics is pleased to present the completed the first issue of the Doctor Death series. Based on Dr. Death vs. The Vampire by Aaron Schutz which originally appeared in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.


A bus travels along a highway in the Eastern Oregon desert. On board is an almost superhero known as Dr. Death, a man who has the power to euthanize terminally ill people and psychopaths. While on the bus, Dr. Death encounters a terminally ill woman who is traveling with a vampire companion that feeds off of her pain and suffering.
